PROMOTING THE WELSH LANGUAGE IN THE COMMUNITY
One of the key aims of Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr is to support and develop the use of the Welsh language within the geographical area covered by the Menter. This area includes Newcastle Emlyn, Llanybydder, Whitland, St Clears and Carmarthen town.
Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr was established in 2007 following the amalgamation of Menter Taf Myrddin and Menter Bro Teifi. Whilst the head office is located in Newcastle Emlyn, the Menter has a second office in The Mount, Queen Street, Carmarthen. The Menter is one of a network of Mentrau Iaith (Language Initiatives) located across Wales.
Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr has an operational plan that outlines our key programmes of work for the coming years - these include Parents and Young Children, Children and Young People, Welsh Learners and Local Communities.
