Children & Young People
Our aim with Young People is:
To target the 14-25 age group to increase opportunities to use the Welsh language socially
Activities with Children and Young People:
- Language sessions are held regularly in Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn, Queen Elizabeth and Dyffryn Taf with Welsh second language pupils in order to give them an opportunity to experience the language in informal extra curricular activities.
- Also ‘Clwb Clecs’ is held for students at Trinity College who are eager to learn Welsh and to use the language in social situations.
- We organise ‘Awdur ar Daith’ (Writers on tour) around local schools annually. This means that a range of schools are visited by a specified author where pupils have the opportunity to take part in literature workshops.
- We run language awareness sessions with local groups such as the Young Farmers Clubs and the Urdd.
- We work with Radio Cymru and Mentrau Iaith Cymru annually to organise the ‘Brwydr y Bandiau’ (Battle of the Bands) competition.
- We organise occasional trips for Young Welsh learners in order for them to use their Welsh outside a classroom environment.
